TAFERO EM 200/25MG TABLET is a combination of Tenofovir alafenamide and Emtricitabine which belongs to the group of medicines called Antiretroviral drugs. It is used in adults and adolescents (aged 12 years and older) along with other medicines to treat human immunodeficiency virus 1 (HIV-1) infection.
It can also be used to reduce the risk of getting HIV infection in adult and adolescent men who have intercourse with men. HIV targets the immune system and weakens your defence against many infections that people with healthy immune systems can fight off.
As the virus destroys and impairs the function of immune cells, infected individuals gradually become immunodeficient and reach the most advanced stage of HIV infection called Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS). It may present with the symptoms of any other infection like fever, throat pain, extreme tiredness, weight loss, muscle pain, etc.

HOW TAFERO EM 200/25MG TABLET WORKS
TAFERO EM 200/25MG TABLET helps to control HIV infection, where tenofovir alafenamide gets subsequently phosphorylated to the pharmacologically active metabolite tenofovir diphosphate and emtricitabine gets phosphorylated by cellular enzymes to emtricitabine triphosphate. These metabolites inhibit HIV replication through incorporation into viral DNA by the HIV reverse transcriptase, which results in DNA chain-termination.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Take TAFERO EM 200/25MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

- Worsening of hepatitis B virus infection
- Changes in your immune system
- New or worsening of existing kidney problems, including kidney failure
- Too much lactic acid in your blood (weakness or tiredness, unusual muscle pain, breathlessness, stomach pain with nausea and vomiting, cold or blue hands and feet, dizziness or light-headedness, fast or abnormal heartbeat)
- Severe liver problems (yellowing of skin or the white part of your eyes, dark urine, light-coloured stools, loss of appetite, nausea or abdominal pain)
HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Nausea and vomiting:
Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily, fried and spicy foods. Do not perform any strenuous activities immediately after eating. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.
Headache:

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

ALCOHOL
